Indigenous coastal garden

A mature, water-wise garden of fynbos, aloes and natural stone, with winding paths and quiet places to sit.

A round paved feature edged with brick, surrounded by indigenous planting and gravel

This Jeffreys Bay garden shows what an indigenous coastal garden looks like once it has settled in.

Fynbos, aloes and hardy coastal shrubs fill the beds, with natural stone, gravel and stepping stones winding between them. A round paved feature, garden arches and a seating circle give the garden places to pause, while the planting does the rest.

Because the plants suit the sandy soil, salt air and wind, the garden stays full and colourful with far less water and maintenance than a traditional garden.
